The team quickly split up, with each member assigned a specific area to scout. Mei, with her natural stealth, approached a nearby waterhole where Grant's team was working. She heard whispers, faint and distant, echoing through the dense foliage.

"Be careful, Mei," Li's voice called out. "The Dino Echoes could be anywhere."

Mei nodded and pressed closer to the water, her eyes scanning the surroundings. She caught sight of Grant crouching next to one of his team members, Dr. Ellie Sattler. They were huddled together, examining something hidden beneath a tarp. Mei could sense a dangerous undercurrent of tension between them.

As she approached, Grant's voice carried over to her. "Evelyn, do you have any new data on the creature we found?"

"No, Dr. Grant," Evelyn's voice echoed in her earpiece. "But the scans indicate it’s a variant of the Dilophosaurus, with... unique features."

Grant and Ellie exchanged a look of concern. Mei could see the fear in their eyes. It was then that the ground began to tremble, and a roar echoed through the forest. A massive dinosaur, resembling a Dilophosaurus, emerged from the underbrush. It charged towards them, its eyes gleaming with a malevolent light.

"Run!" Mei shouted, diving into the water as the creature passed over her head. She swam furiously, trying to reach Grant and Ellie before it could attack them.

The dinosaur's focus was elsewhere, though. Its attention was drawn to the device that had been buried beneath the tarp. As it pried it loose from the ground, Mei and the others swam back to shore, weapons drawn. They had to protect Grant, Ellie, and the secrets that could change the course of history.

As the dinosaur's weight pressed down on Mei, Alex and Li raced towards her. They saw the creature's fangs just inches from Mei's neck. With a swift move, Alex reached out and yanked the dinosaur's head away, saving Mei from certain death.

The team regrouped, panting and exhausted. Grant handed them the device. "What do we do with this?"

"Take it back," Evelyn instructed, her eyes scanning the surroundings. "But be prepared. The Dino Echoes won't give up."

With the device safely in hand, the team made their way back to the time-travel device. The journey was fraught with danger, but they knew that the mission was far from over. They had to return to the present and unravel the mystery behind the Dino Echoes, before the organization could enact its sinister plans.

Back in the present, Alex sat at his desk, his eyes on the holographic map. The team had returned from the Cretaceous, and they were safe, but the questions lingered.

"What are the Dino Echoes really after?" he mused.

Li, who had been silent during the meeting, spoke up. "They're after something more than just the dinosaur. They're after power, control."
